Which House Rules Your Career — the 2nd, 6th, or 10th?

Three houses get confused here, and the distinction matters. The 2nd house is not your career: it describes your relationship with money — how you earn, hold, and spend. The 6th house is not your career either, classically: it describes skills, labor, and the working environment — the texture of the workday, not the direction of the path. The 10th house is the career itself: the public role, the direction handed to you by the world — or, when the 1st and 10th are well connected, the direction you take for yourself. A clean link between the 10th and 6th adds a signature of skilled, technical work; and the classic mark of someone who builds their own path is the chart ruler and the 10th lord bound together — by reception or harmonious aspect, directly or through an intermediary.

What If Your 10th House Is Empty?

An empty 10th does not mean no career — most charts leave several houses empty, and many planets in the 10th means breadth of interest, not guaranteed success. With no planet in the house, follow the landlord: the ruler of the 10th. Hard aspects without reception are read as obstacles to plan around, not directions to follow.
